We're Still Here

Proof We Carried On

Concrete's wet with last night's rain,

It's the only thing that's washed the streets in days.

I walk past walls with the paint half gone,

Every color left is proof we carried on.

I've been the target in somebody's scope,

I've been the reason they loaded their hope.

But my spine learned how to be steel and flame,

They'll never put me back in the frame.

We don't bow, we don't break,

We turn every hit into something they can't take.

We're still here, yeah, we're still here,

And every chain they thought would hold us down

Is rust on the ground right now.

Every echo of boots on stone

Makes me stand a little taller in my bones.

I'm not waiting for the safe to arrive,

I make it with my breath every time I survive.

We don't bow, we don't break,

We turn every hit into something they can't take.

We're still here, yeah, we're still here,

And every chain they thought would hold us down

Is rust on the ground right now.

Oh-oh-oh, rust on the ground,

Oh-oh-oh, we're still around.
